KINDERGARTEN ESSENTIAL STANDARDS

name all upper and lower case letters.
say the sound of each letter (consonant)
say the short and long sound of each vowel
identify the beginning, middle, and ending sounds in words
make the beginning, middle, and ending sounds in words
make new words by changing consonant and vowel sounds
read common sight words
find spaces between words
read the words in a book in the right order
read books at my level
talk about the characters, setting, and some details of the story
print upper and lower case letters
spell simple words(CVC) by using letters and sounds I know
say a full sentence with details
use a capital letter at the beginning of a sentence and when using I
recognize and name end punctuation
