Through the efforts of the Manistee Lodge No. 228 of Free & Accepted Masons and the Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation’s Community Charities Program, new bikes and helmets are given away to local school students as a part of its “Bikes for Books” reading incentive program. The Foundation matches all contributions from local merchants and donors.
MAPS’ elementary students were inspired to achieve their schools’ reading goals and were entered into the schools’ drawing for a chance to win. Today, the Masons presented 22 Kennedy and Jefferson students with their bikes & helmets. The excited recipients were quick to shout their “thank yous” to the Masons!
