Lions and dinosaurs and puppies and kittys, stories about the earth, the stars and beyond — goodness! The Jefferson students once again enjoyed expanding their worlds through the monthly Book Exchange, made possible through the generous book donations of community members, parents/grandparents, MAPS staff and volunteers, and the students themselves. Hundreds of books were displayed on tables in the gymnasium, arranged by teachers and volunteers according to age and general, holiday, and specific topics. According to Ruth Simoneau, Title I ELA, the students look forward to this day each month and think a book is the GREATEST gift. Students came ready to “give a book, get a book,” and were excited to share their finds with their friends/classmates and with their families when they arrived home. Lots o’ smiles; the pictures say it all! Kudos to all who coordinate this special day!
