The Manistee Substance, Education and Awareness (Manistee SEA) coalition is hosting a town hall focusing on vaping and today’s youth.  The event, which will be held from 7-9 p.m. on May 14 at the Vogue Theatre, is sponsored in part by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

Area students also submitted videos for the event’s “2 KUUL 2 JUUL” vaping and substance abuse prevention contest. First place will be awarded $100, second place takes $75 and third place wins $50.  MHS Video Production has helped with the program and the Chippewa Chapter of the National Honor Society is sponsoring prize money for the selected video winners.

During the event a guest speaker will address the impacts of nicotine and vaping on youth. Also, a discussion panel on vaping in our community will be include MMHS principal Andy Huber and student Kiera Raymond (sr)  and Zach Lee (jr).

Those who attend are encouraged to ask questions. More information on the “Communities Talk” initiative can be found at www.stopalcoholabuse.gov/townhallmeetings/.
