The annual America & Me Essay Contest, sponsored by Farm Bureau Insurance, encourages Michigan eighth grade students to write about their Michigan heroes. This year, the essay contest celebrated its 50th anniversary. On March 14th, three students from Mrs. Nowicki’s eighth grade Language Arts class were recognized for their efforts. Phillip Scheffler received first place, Aubrey Anderson took second, and Robert Schmidt placed third. Phillip’s essay will now be entered into the statewide competition from which the top ten essays will be chosen.
