More than 150 students in grades 5 through 12 participate in Manistee Concert, Marching, and Jazz Bands each year. Studying music not only helps the children develop an appreciation for the arts and the ability to play an instrument, but it also instills a sense of pride, nurtures commitment, and has been shown to improve academic performance.   Many students also develop valuable leadership skills through various roles in band. 

The mission of the Manistee Band Boosters, a 501©(3) nonprofit organization, is to provide these students with the resources they need to be successful musicians void of financial, logistical or other impeding obstacles. Some of the what the Band Boosters provides for Manistee Bands’ students include:

• Instruments. Musical instruments are expensive and beyond the financial reach of many families. Even rentals can be costly. The Band Boosters maintain a large inventory of instruments that are provided to students at no charge.
• Music. Our library has music from beginning to advanced to ensure students have appropriate music for learning, competition and fun for the entirety of their school band career.
• Scholarships. Band Boosters scholarships allow many students to participate in camps and who may not otherwise have been able to afford the cost. These opportunities provide students with intensive music instruction that improves musicianship, allows them to experience new challenges, and often builds lifelong friendships.
• Uniforms. Uniforms are an integral part of the band experience. The Band Boosters provide concert and marching band uniforms for middle and high school students, as well as t-shirts for all grades for informal performances.
• Clinicians. Band Boosters frequently bring in experts to provide more in-depth instruction to students to expand their knowledge of musical styles or techniques.

The Manistee Band Boosters ability to successful advocate and provide for our students’ needs are primarily based on the involvement and financial support of our student’s families and community. We welcome all Band family members and fans to participate with the Band Boosters to make these opportunities available to our students. • Join us! We are seeking enthusiastic Band family members to join our team. There is always a place for your skills and talents here, please just ask! We have a foundational committee of 4 officers, the Band Director, and a desire to expand our team with new event/activity leads. The time commitment is what you make it! We appreciate any you can invest in our program and the Bands.
• Work Concessions. Band Boosters volunteers sell snacks at most Manistee Middle & High School outdoor sporting events and can always use helpers! It’s easy and fun! Concessions sales make up a big portion of our income and thus our ability to extend the support to our students! 
• Assist with Fundraisers. We need several people to help with our fundraising efforts. Let us know if you can help put together sale packets, distribute goods or additional tasks needed.
• Attend Meetings. The Band Boosters meet monthly during the school year, and we welcome your involvement. Meetings are casual and last 60-90 minutes. Help us come up with fundraising ideas, prioritize resources and make sure our Band kids have fun! • Make a Donation.  Your tax-deductible donation directly benefits our community’s children. Donors are recognized through the year on band programs and at events. You may remit your donation by check payable to “Manistee Band Boosters” and deliver to MMHS or via Venmo @manisteebandboosters. We thank you for your support!
• Sponsor a Student. Not all families have the necessary income to support each activity. If you have the means to sponsor a student, please take that opportunity to send in additional funds to cover other student(s). This will be an anonymous act for the privacy of the student, but your generosity will not go unnoticed! We thank you for your support!
