We kindly ask that you take some time to talk with your child about how to
stay safe
during the solar eclipse.
–
Remind them not to look directly at the sun without proper eye
protection, such as the solar eclipse glasses provided by the school. Even
if it is “dark”, looking up can cause damage to the eye.
–
Emphasize the importance of following their teacher’s instructions
during the viewing experience.
–
Viewing any part of the sun through a camera lens, binoculars, or a
telescope without a special-purpose solar filter secured over the front of
the optics will instantly cause severe eye injury.
–
If you would like your child NOT to participate, we will have a
designated area where they can remain inside. Please contact your child’s
teacher through Seesaw/ MMHS email Ms. Beldo (Kbeldo@manistee.org) and
consent to having the child stay indoors.
