Libby McCarthy was accepted to Marquette University on an academic scholarship. She was also recruited to join their D1 track team with a focus on the high jump.
She started running track in 6th grade and by sophomore year, she had a goal of being accepted to a university and joining their track team.
She has plans on majoring in marketing/graphic design and she is looking forward to taking classes and learning more about different subjects. She says she looks forward to all that the university has to offer and getting to know her teammates.
Her father and mother are so excited for their daughter to be joining Marquette. Her father has always been a huge fan of the university and her mother is excited that her daughter will be continuing sports at the collegiate level. They love cheering on their children and watching all of them at their sports events.
Her friends and teammates here are extremely supportive of her and she is going to miss them all.
One last piece of advice that she has for younger members of our community trying to make it to the D1 level is “Do not get down on yourself if you backtrack at your sport. Just keep practicing and trying because you will succeed at some point”.
MAPS is so proud of Libby and everything she has accomplished. We wish her the best on her university journey.
