YIG Parents and Students-

Michigan Youth in Government is a YMCA program. While you do not have to
be a member of the Y to participate in the program, we benefit from the non
profit funding of the Y. The cost of participation in YIG is more than the
$430 fee per HS student. Because of the donations made to the Y this is
less than half of what the program costs. For the past 3 years MMHS has
benefited from a GRANT to reduce our costs to very little.

I have forwarded an email from the Y for your information. Thank you for
supporting MMHS YIG and the Y.

*Action Alert: Ask Your Representative to Cosponsor the Charitable Act!*

*BREAKING NEWS:* Yesterday, a bipartisan group of U.S. Representatives
introduced the Charitable Act in the U.S. House!

This bipartisan bill would restore and expand the Universal Deduction for
non-itemizers that expired at the end of 2021. The Charitable Act extends
the policy and expands the giving incentive from $300 for single and $600
for joint filers to $4,500 and $9,200, respectively.

*The Charitable Act will help nonprofits like the Y by incentivizing more
taxpayers to give to charity! *We know that donors give from the heart, but
IRS data proves that when they give and how much they give is tied to tax
incentives.

*Take action today: *Ask your U.S. Rep to support charitable giving by
cosponsoring the Charitable Act!
*TAKE ACTION >*
