On Friday, March 17, 2023 the Manistee HS Band performed at the Great Lakes Concert Band Festival at Pease Auditorium at Eastern Michigan University.
Thirteen HS Bands from all over the state performed for each other and panel of clinicians. The clinicians were Dr. Albert Nguyen from the University of Memphis, Dr. Steve Peterson retired from the University of Illinois, and Dr. Shanti Simon from the University of Oklahoma.
We listened to three other groups perform. The Wind Ensembles from Traverse City Central HS and Lakeland HS as well as the featured performance by the Eastern Michigan University Wind Ensemble, conducted by Dr. Mary Schneider.
The Manistee HS Band performed the March of the Belgian Paratroopers by Pierre Leemans, arranged by Jim Swearingen, Courtly Airs and Dances by Ron Nelson, and Kalos Eidos by Carol Brittin Chambers. We received very complimentary feedback from the clinicians.
After our performance we had a wonderful clinic with Dr. Albert Nguyen.
