On Friday, the Manistee Girls Golf Team competed in the 18 hole Lady
Cardinal Invitational at Katke golf course on the campus of Ferris State
University in Big Rapids. After 9 holes were completed there was an hour
rain delay due to lightning in the area. With the delay the girls were in
competition from 9am to after 4pm. It was a long day for them but they
finished strong. They finished with a team score of 462. Leading the
Chippewas was Sara Danison with a 103, Kendal Waligorski with a 110, Olivia
Vasquez with a 124, Emalyn Nelson with a 125. Not factoring into the score
was Mackenzie King with a 127 and Sarah Huber with a 134. The girls
finished 13th out of 19 teams in the field. They were 3rd out of seven
teams in the Division 4 field. This was a good a great experience for the
girls as the Regional Tournament will be played at the same course on
October 5. The ladies will be back at it again on Tuesday when they travel
to Interlochen for the Traverse City West Titan Invitational.
