The Manistee cross-country teams started their competition this past week at the Fruitport Calvary Eagle Invitational on Tuesday (8/24) evening. The boys won big, taking the 1st place trophy in division 2, while the girls finished 3rd. 10 Chippewa boys and 3 Chippewa girls finished in the top 20 of the individual results, leading to a mountain of medals.
Medalists for the boys were Caiden Cudney (1st), Jack O’Donnell (2nd), Jacob Lindeman, Trevor Adamczak, Jordan Fink, Max Miles, Elliot Hoeflinger, Greyson Hoeflinger, Drew Mendians, and Austin Benetiz. Girl medalists were Ceci Postma (2nd), Allie Thomas, and Addy Witkowski.
On Saturday Aug 28th the Chips traveled to the Benzie Central “Pete Moss” Invitational, one of the biggest meets in the state. Competing in the “Red” large school division, the boys finished in 15th place while the girls were 23rd. Abdul Ghennewa was first finisher for the boys, running a personal best 18:01, while the girls saw Ceci Postma (21:24) and Annie Huizinga (22:06) lead the way.
