The Manistee Boy’s Swim Team recorded 9 individual qualifying times and two new school records in their final dual meet of the season, defeating conference rival Ludington with a score of 113 to 66.
The Chips started things off with a bang, with Senior Ben Sullivan, Sophomore Trevor Adamczak, and Junior Seth Thompson hitting state qualifying times in the first individual event, the 200 Freestyle. Not to be outdone, Freshman Alec Lampen and Senior Zach Lee turned right around in the next event and logged qualifying times in the 200 IM, with both of them coming in under the former school record. After diving, Adamczak returned to qualify in the 100 butterfly, and then Senior Griffen Antal snagged his 500 freestyle qualifying time. The Chips then competed in the 200 Freestyle relay, with the team of Senior Dylan Johnson, Thompson, Lampen and Sullivan taking the win, just missing the school record by .05. Lee returned in the 100 Breaststroke to add his second qualifying time of the night, also hitting a new school and pool record in the process. Closing out the state qualifying times for the night was Adamczak’s 100 Freestyle mark while leading off the 400 Freestyle Relay. The Chips also won the 200 Medley Relay (Lampen, Freshman Drew Mendians, Lee and Sophomore Tug Thuemmel) to open the session, holding off Ludington by .07.
All in all, the Chips finished off the night with 3 new individual state qualifiers, 2 school records, 1 pool record, and nearly all lifetime best swims, setting them up nicely for a highly anticipated conference meet next Saturday. Diving begins at 10 AM, with swimming starting at 1pm.
