As of today the commons bathrooms will be locked during the day and opened up for lunch and after school (around 3:15). Walkers and visitors will have access to the office bathrooms and of course students have access to designated areas at all times. We've been waiting for locks to be installed to implement this, and the work was completed yesterday.
This protocol will:
- eliminate community members and students using a shared bathroom during the school day
- help to further segregate MS and HS bathroom use
- cut down on students drifting to the commons for bathroom use
In short this is a very unmonitored area that has habitually been a gathering place for students and recently led to multiple issues of vaping. Our concern is student safety; we will review this change after several weeks.
